Ipad browser testing
We have just got our hands on an old Ipad 1 which we bought from John at John and Ginger. So we can now fully test new site builds on Safari for Ipad and Safari for Iphone. The safari for Ipad give pretty much an exact copy of a site as Firefox and Google chrome, but do not expect your site to work the same on an iphone.
We have even cleaned it up and bought a new leather case of Amazon for it. Who needs an Ipad2 when the first one does the job anyway.
X-Cart 4.4.3 has a bug where the address book page is blank when you are logged into your customer account and goto the accounts section.
This issue can be fixed by adding the following line add approx line 54.
x_load(‘user’);

The sharecount.com website allows you to get the social ranking of your webpage by getting public stats from facebook, twitter and google.
There is even a free api to get this information programatically via a JSON interface.
Nice bit of javascript that resizes web video as you resize the webpage. The video on the fitvidsjs.com site is quite impressive.

Another day another design
Today I’m designing for a VOIP website template that has the flexibility to be rebranded as required. I think a trawl through iStock and Shutterstock will get the ball rolling if I can avoid too many 3D images of globes and mobiles.

SEO & Marketing
We have just signed up another monthly marketing plan, this one with Doggie Solutions.
We run our own e-commerce store GAPco which helps us understand exactly what is required to market an e-commerce store online.
The usual suspects are of course Facebook, Blogs and Twitter combined with onsite SEO for the main website.
It’s great to see our clients sales increase through our hard work and attention to detail.
We’ve had a run of X-Cart to EROL migrations this summer after Brightscape Solutions went into liquidation.
John and Ginger have 3 stores in total to migrate. The final site will be The Plastic Shop before the September cut off date for Secure Central.
We’ve learnt alot from the process but all in all it has been a very positive experience and has moved Zone 1 Creative a notch up the ladder.
